Water supply remains stable amid
rising heat, says Palace

MARCH 7, 2025

Despite the extreme temperatures across the country, Malacañang and water agencies assured the public that Metro Manila and nearby areas have sufficient water supply. According to the Palace, there is no official El Niño declaration, and government efforts are in place to prevent shortages. The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) confirmed that Angat Dam, Metro Manila’s main water source, is still above its normal high level, with other sources like Laguna Lake and deep wells ready to support demand.

As heat index levels rise to dangerous levels in parts of Luzon, residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid sun exposure during peak hours. PAGASA reported indices as high as 42°C in some areas, with more regions expected to reach “extreme caution” levels. Local governments responded with class suspensions, while air travelers were advised to take precautions. Though some dams reported slight drops in water level, authorities remain confident in maintaining adequate supply throughout summer.
