SJDM Water District seeks to end PrimeWater deal

APRIL 28, 2025

The San Jose del Monte City Water District Board of Directors has officially moved to pre-terminate its joint venture agreement with PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation (PWIC) amid a worsening water crisis. In a letter to Mayor Arturo Robes dated April 10, 2025, Water District Chairman Aurelio Jose Jr. shared that the Board passed Resolution No. 15, Series of 2025, directing the issuance of a notice of intent to end the joint venture. The notice was issued to PWIC on April 7 and referred to the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel.

This move follows mounting complaints from residents experiencing low to zero water pressure for weeks, citing major disruptions to daily life and added costs for purchasing water. In response, the city government rolled out emergency measures, including water lorries, distribution hubs, and mobile filtration units, while coordinating with nearby LGUs for support. The City Health Office also stepped up monitoring to prevent sanitation-related health issues.
