Manila Water on track with P4 billion line project
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024
Manila Water Co. Inc. is making significant progress on its P4-billion East Bay Phase 2 Submarine Transmission Line Project, which aims to service two million additional customers by next year. Since construction began in July 2023, the project has shown “sizeable” advancements in enhancing water distribution across the East Zone.
The project comprises two components: the Central Bay and West Bay segments, which have reached completion rates of 24% and 44%, respectively. The Central Bay section includes a 1,422-meter pipe and features a 13.3-kilometer, 1,200-millimeter-diameter steel pipeline crossing Laguna Lake. Meanwhile, the West Bay Project involves an 18.3-kilometer pipeline from Binangonan to Taguig, with ongoing installation of an additional one-kilometer terrestrial pipeline. The East Bay PH 2 Water Treatment Plant, costing P7.84 billion, is set to deliver potable water by the third quarter of 2025, reducing dependence on Angat Dam and enhancing water supply reliability for residents in Pasig, Pateros, and Taguig.
