LGUs, Agencies Boost Water Supply in
La Carlota After Kanlaon Eruption

APRIL 15, 2025

The La Carlota City Government is receiving support from nearby LGUs to deliver potable water to areas with little to no supply following Kanlaon Volcano’s April 8 eruption. Barangays Ara-al and San Miguel were hit hardest, prompting the city’s Mobile Water Treatment System to provide immediate relief. The Provincial Government and the cities of Sagay and Cadiz lent their water filtration systems, while the Philippine Red Cross deployed water tankers.

Beyond water supply, there is an urgent need for face masks and other PPE to protect against volcanic ash. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided over P86 million worth of cash aid, food packs, and non-food items. As of April 11, Phivolcs reported 1,959 tonnes of sulfur dioxide flux and 11 volcanic earthquakes in 24 hours, with Alert Level 3 still in effect over Kanlaon Volcano.
