K-water, PH gov’t team up for water systems in new towns
MAY 7, 2025
Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) has partnered with the Philippine government to build water infrastructure in Pampanga, La Union, and Benguet. The agreement, signed with agencies including the BCDA and local governments, supports the conversion of former U.S. military bases into sustainable communities. Officials said the collaboration will bring advanced water technology to areas long in need of reliable systems. This is expected to improve living standards and support the growth of new urban centers outside Metro Manila.
K-water will begin by assessing existing facilities and introducing its Smart Water Network Management system. With only 40 percent of Philippine households having access to clean water, the project targets outdated pipelines and water supply issues in the regions. K-water CEO Yun Seog-dae said the initiative will support regional growth and provide safe, climate-resilient infrastructure. Local officials anticipate that the partnership will lead to long-term solutions for water security challenges in these provinces.
